The Australian War Memorial has posted paper abstracts for most of the speakers at its Imperialism and Resistance conference on 17-18 September.
See particularly abstracts from Kate Fullagar ('Gauging conflict in Darug-speaking country, 1788–1810'), Mina Murray (Wiradyuri, 'Yinaa-ru: women of the Wiradyuri resistance, 1813–1885'), Nicholas Clements ('The Black Line: Tasmania’s doomed counter-insurgency gamble'), Major Samuel White ('Law and war on the frontier'), Jilda Andrews (Yuwaalaraay, 'Country and the costs of continuity'), and Margaret Farmer ('“We are what we choose to remember, but we are also what we choose to forget”: Considering the Australian Frontier Wars at the Australian War Memorial').
Keynote speakers are Henry Reynolds, the Hon. Tony Abbott and Rachel Perkins (Arrernte/Kalkadoon).
Welcoming remarks will come from Michael Bell (Ngunnawal/Gomeroi), the Memorial's Indigenous Liaison Officer, and the Hon. Kim Beazley, Chair of the Memorial Council.
